Hiut Denim uses British Pasture Leather for leather patches in their Rapha X Hiut collaboration.
Hiut is an iconic success story for retaining local manufacturing in the face of globalisation. When a Welsh jeans factory was closed in favor of cheaper production overseas, longtime local expert makers were left out of work. But Hiut deliberately located their new denim brand in the midst of this community, bringing these masters back to work to craft high-quality jeans that now have a cult following around the world.
We share Hiut’s mission to preserve and recognise the expertise that’s necessary to retain local production, a challenge we face with our own production in the face of a fractured UK leather industry that has been shrinking in recent decades.
