Our collaboration with Billy Tannery saw the launch of their first handbag, introducing the Fauna. Designed by co-founder Alice Robinson and crafted in Somerset, the Fauna brings together deer suede and our signature charcoal tumbled cattle  leather in a piece that reflects shared values and careful making.

Both British Pasture Leather and Billy Tannery are part of a new generation of British leather makers reshaping the industry. We share a commitment to vegetable tanning and traceability. While Billy Tannery works with goat and deer skins and we focus on cattle hides, our leathers are united by their honesty and individuality. Natural markings and scars are not flaws to be hidden but features to be honoured—each one telling the story.

The name Fauna reflects this connection, evoking the richness of animal life and its deep-rooted ties to the natural world. Vegetable tanning, an age-old craft using tannins from bark and plants, allows us to create leather that is not only beautiful but enduring—designed to age gracefully and last for years to come.

“Launching The Fauna is a groundbreaking moment for us in many ways. Not only is it our first handbag, but the project allowed us to work with a company we’ve admired for a long time. An exciting community is building around positive grassroots leather projects in the UK and this collaboration with British Pasture Leather is a proud moment.”
